Julianne DeMartino, MD earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and
completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. She
owned and operated a solo private practice for 14 years before transitioning to an OB/GYN Hospitalist
role at Cleveland Clinic in 2013. Dr. DeMartino then joined the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s
Horizon Campus, where she served as Site Director of Graduate Medical Education, chaired the Maternal
Quality and Safety Committee, and led the development and facilitation of the obstetric emergency
simulation program.
Following her time at UPMC Horizon, she became an OB Hospitalist at Magee-Women’s Hospital, holding
academic appointments at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Lake Erie College of
Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. DeMartino returned to Cleveland Clinic in 2022 as the Section Lead Laborist.
Currently, Dr. DeMartino is an OB/GYN Hospitalist for University Hospitals in Cleveland where she
additionally directs the OB Hospitalist Education and Simulation programs.
Dr. DeMartino has held various leadership roles with the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists (SOGH),
including Simulation Committee Co-Chair, Annual Clinical Meeting Co-Chair, Governance Committee
Chair and Advocacy Committee Co-Chair. She is the SOGH CREOG and ACOG liaison, has served on the
Board of Directors since 2018 and is the current SOGH President.
